Caption: Thanks, Dad, for introducing me to Mozart's 21st Piano Concerto in C Major - and the joys of travel
Last breakfast for this shift - pancakes.
Kelvin took the truck and most of the crew into Andora la Vella while a small group walked. I stayed back with Bob, waiting for a phone call from his girlfriend in Canada - which didn't come. We talked about relationships past and current, about the need for physical contact, sexuality, romance, love, as we followed the others into Andorra (diary edited here to protect the guilty and innocent). Bob is not going to be the romantic hero in my wild African adventure - maybe it does only happen in books!
A German shepherd followed us from the campsite into town and just missed being hit by a car on the road in front of us. Bob tried to lead him on his camera strap, but the dog pulled too much.
Spent the day wandering around the city. Bought three bottles of Bailey’s Irish Cream at less than $6 each! Two cartons of yoghurt and new sunglasses. Bussed back to camp, passing shanty buildings on the mountain sides.
Back at the truck, repacked my locker with my liqueur cache before dinner of chilli con carne, fruit salad and After Eight mints - eaten at 7.30pm.
Trucked it with Walkman to write this, listening to Mozart’s 21 piano concerto in C major. Haven’t heard it for so long and the memories flooding back of wandering into the sitting room at home and asking Dad what the beautiful music was. Thanks Dad!
