Long day on the road. Warm to start but colder as we entered the magnificent Pyrenees Mountains. Another shop with Bob then lunch in hot sunshine beside an old walled city on a river.

The afternoon drive took us up into the mountains. Had the truck canopy rolled down against the cold for most of the time but got wonderful views out the back of hillside villages and, near the summit, ski runs carved into treed slopes. A long, slow climb finally put us up top, from where we descended to a valley campsite 5km above Andorra la Vella (the capital of the independent principality of Andorra).

Long dinner preparation on open fire, with everyone hanging around - most helping, some just breathing heavy!  Seemed to take forever, and the smells wafting over the truck brought frequent enquiries as to ETA. Finally, we served up hamburgers with cheese, pineapple, tomato, beetroot and salad between chunks of bread (real hamburger buns were too expensive at 7F for 3). A delicious success with munching approval. Everyone pigged out again.

After dinner, Bob and I went for a walk around the beautiful, sleepy little town (forgot to note the name in my diary), following a flowered walkway beside a stream. Back in camp we drank mulled wine - not made with bouquet garni! - by the fire. Finally crashed out, tired after frantic dinner and warmed by wine.

Gunshots and dog howls echoed around us overnight.
